FUTURO: WILL OU GOING TO?

A dúvida é bem comum, pois muita gente confunde um tipo de futuro com o outro. Há algumas diferenças, que explicaremos aos poucos. Vejam os casos abaixo:

1) Se decidimos fazer algo e comunicamos a alguém na hora da decisão, devemos usar WILL.
Exemplo:
Jane: Paul's birthday is tomorrow.
Beth: Really? I'll buy him a present!
Repare que Beth decidiu comprar um presente para Paul na hora em que tomou conhecimento de seu aniversário.

2) Se a decisão de fazer algo foi tomada a algum tempo atrás e comunicamos isso a alguém, desta vez usamos GOING TO.
Exemplo:
Imagine que Beth encontre outra pessoa mais tarde:
John: Paul's birthday is tomorrow.
Beth: I know! I'm going to buy him a present.
Desta vez Beth usou GOING TO porque já havia tomado a decisão de comprar um presente para Paul anteriormente.
